Bio
Ben Cole, was born and raised in the South. After high school graduation following
his urge for adventure, he joined the United State Marines. Over the next three years his
assignments took him to many foreign destinations including Europe, Southeast Asia,
and most notably, Vietnam. Those travels and events were the source of his latest book,
38 Months, My Time In The Marines.
Enrolling in Auburn University after the Marines, he received a bachelordegree in
1971and relocated to Atlanta. Starting as salesman, he soon started his own company,
married in 1979 and started a family.
Becoming a pilot was a longtime goal and he startedflying in the early 1980s.
Earning his private pilot's license and during the following decades, he owned and built
several airplanes, but his passion was ultralight aircraft. Flying from his backyard
airstrip in Suwanee, Georgia led to many interesting and exciting experiences over
the years and a source of many stories.
In 2001 he flew to an ultralight-type aircraft to all forty-nine continental states and Canada,
a record-setting trip for a plane that small. An account of that trip combined with other
flying stories were the subjects of his second book, Little Plane Big Trip, published in 2013.
It was the first book sinceFour Down On Old Peachtree Road that came out in 2007 which
many say is his Tour de Force.
